Lutein reduces inflammation in TAO
Lutein targeting orbital fibroblasts attenuates fibrotic and inflammatory effects in thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy.
High relevance for treatment exploration.
We investigated how lutein might help with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), a condition marked by inflammation and fibrosis. In our in vitro study, lutein was applied to orbital fibroblasts before introducing fibrotic and inflammatory triggers.

We observed that lutein reduced important markers related to fibrosis and inflammation, such as ACTA2 and IL-6, while also curtailing cell migration. The research highlights lutein's possible therapeutic role due to its ability to inhibit harmful processes seen in TAO, suggesting it could be a promising treatment option.

Vegan diet benefits rheumatoid arthritis
Antioxidants in vegan diet and rheumatic disorders.
Highly relevant and beneficial
We examined how a living food (LF) vegan diet, packed with antioxidants, influences rheumatoid disorders. Participants consuming LF, which includes raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, and seeds, showed significant increases in beneficial nutrients like carotenoids and vitamins C and E. Remarkably, those following the LF diet experienced reduced joint pain and stiffness, leading to improved overall health. These positive changes were not only reflected in subjective reports but also in objective assessments. Overall, our findings suggest that a diet rich in plant-based antioxidants may greatly benefit individuals with autoimmune disorders, particularly rheumatoid arthritis.

Lutein boosts carotenoids, not cognition
Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Single-Blind Study of Lutein Supplementation on Carotenoid Status and Cognition in Persons with Multiple Sclerosis.
Preliminary support for future research.
We investigated the effectiveness of a four-month lutein supplementation in enhancing carotenoid status and cognitive function in individuals with relapse-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Our study involved 21 participants who were split into placebo and treatment groups.

While we found that lutein did boost carotenoid levels, it did not show a significant impact on cognitive performance overall. However, there was a promising connection between increased macular carotenoids and improvements in attention and memory. This paves the way for more extensive studies to explore lutein's potential cognitive benefits in MS.

Eye strain relief
Despite having amblyopia, my work heavily strains my eyes. Although I didn't expect dramatic improvements, after three months of Lutein, my eyes feel less tired and the scratching has almost stopped. While I still experience some dryness, the discomfort has decreased significantly.

Eye pressure decrease
I purchase Lutein for my mother and mother-in-law, both of whom have age-related vision issues related to their autoimmune disorders. After following the doctor's advice and taking Lutein, they experienced a reduction in eye pressure to near-normal levels. This has become a regular purchase for us.

I found these Lutein vitamins helpful for my myopia. I used to require glasses for computer work, but since ordering Lutein from iHerb, I can now work without glasses, indicating a noticeable improvement.

Slight improvement
I began taking Lutein supplements about six years ago after developing a chronic autoimmune disorder. My vision became significantly blurred, previously having perfect eyesight. Although my vision remains somewhat blurred, the floaters have decreased, indicating that Lutein may have contributed to my slight improvement.

I have started taking Lutein for glaucoma, as I’ve heard it's beneficial. I’ve tried different brands, and this one feels the most effective. I notice a brighter field of vision. This is my third purchase.
